For the Creative Engineering project, our task was to choose a world problem and solve it. My group and I chose cancer. We opted for making patients going through treatment more comfortable as opposed to curing cancer which we didn't have the resources to do. We created a drink that contained all the vitamins that are necessary for the gaining back of strength and all the nutrients lost during treatment. It contained vitamins C and D as well as iron. We even included green tea to calm the stomach, because nausea is a common side effect of chemo and radio therapy.
Concepts
1. Establish the problem you want to fix 2. create a plan and develop solutions 3. Decide on the most promising solution- our drink 4. Create a presentation- we touched on all aspects of the drink and made it as persuasive as we could 5. Create and test a prototype- we made a drink and had one of our group members drink it for the class 6. Plan our distribution process and get as far along with that as we could Key Points: CARE drinkWhat is CARE?
CARE stands for comfort, aid, relief, and energize. This is what we believe our product will do for our customers. What is cancer? Cancer is the uncontrollable growth of cells in the body and one of the most common diseases in the world. What do we aim to do for our customers? We try our best to get customers going through treatment in a more comfortable place by replenishing the minerals and vitamins they may have lost. We also want to make the drink as easy to consume as possible because even the most mild foods can cause nausea. We then tested different versions of the product and created a list of a variety of ingredients that could appeal to everyone. After we created the powerpoint below to explain our product and how easy it is to use and make. |
