For the gait analysis project, our task was to answer this question: What is the relationship between gait frequency and height? We began by researching what gait means, and how it differentiates from person to person based on a variety of factors. We then conducted an experiment where we attached an accelerometer to the chests of our test subjects. We used an app to study each individual, and then organized our data onto a spreadsheet. We then continued our studies and determined the relationship for the question and organized our results into our final lab report.

Gait- a person's manner of walking Frequency- Frequency is the number of times something happens per second. It can be calculated using the formula F=1/T, where F is the frequency and T is the time it took. In this project, we used frequency to determine the number of steps per second the subjects took, so we could attempt to relate that number to other characteristics. Frequency can be measured in Hertz (Hz), which means "cycles per second". Predictive Model- A predictive model is an equation created to attempt to determine a pattern in data. It represents a trend that you think exists in the information, and extends said trend to allow you to make educated guesses about other points in your data-set. The equation we created was a predictive model, because it took the data we had, noted that the average ratio of height to gait frequency was 3.32, and created an equation to predict other people's heights based off their gait frequency, extrapolating off the data we had.
Reflection
This project was a bit difficult for me personally as well as my group. 3 out of our 4 team members have been working on a different project during our class time, leaving only one group member to work on this project. While the rest of our group has been helping outside of school, the majority of the work was done by our one group member in class. The experimentation and spreadsheet were done before our group separated, as well as the majority of the final report, but the micro presentation was left to that one group member. Overall, the whole project turned out to be a success and we all did our best to contribute as much as possible considering the circumstances. We all learned a lot about a subject we'd never really given any thought to previously, and learned time management and facilitating skills.
